sonoma community farm homes

santa rosa, ca

This innovative yet familiar housing model aims to offer an alternative to the stucco box houses common through out California. With this model, we hope to combine site context with modern live/work loft architecture, while preserving orchards and agricultural traditions essential to the state's economy and heritage.

Easily assembled from prefabricated sustainable components, these homes are meant to exist in a community setting with shared open land in lieu of individual backyard. The latter would encourage shared living and harvesting, thus allowing for tighter knit neighborhoods and the prevention of community and agricultural erosion.

The model would also encourage shared services such as electric car transportation and medical care.
